wedding should be one of the most memorable days of your life. The
ceremony, the people and the celebration should all come together to
create a truly momentous occasion. In today’s modern times, it is
becoming more and more common for a couple to chose a non-religious
alternative for making public the declaration of love. Church weddings
are still a popular choice and are firmly integrated in our society. A
celebrant performs a civil ceremony for those of us who do not have a
particular religious affiliation or for any other personal reason you
do not wish to be married by a minister of religion. This is not to say
that a civil ceremony cannot contain religious content nor, does it
mean a celebrant cannot marry a couple on holy ground. It just simply
gives people a choice to create a ceremony to suit their own way of
We live in such a multicultural world that tradition to someone can be
very different to the beliefs of another. A civil ceremony can be the
perfect solution for a couple from two very different backgrounds to
create their own ceremony and include rituals, readings and customs
from each other's culture.
Basically, as long as the
legal wording requirements are fulfilled throughout the ceremony, it is
yours to create and style until it is exactly as you want it to be.
It is my job as your celebrant to guide you through the ceremony, to
offer you suggestions and give you advice. We will mediate as
frequently as required by phone and email and have several meetings
during the time leading up to the wedding day.
A NOIM (Notice of Intended Marriage) will need to be completed no later
than 1 month prior to the wedding. To complete this form I am required
to sight your birth certificate, and if this is your second marriage, a
copy of your decree absolute or a death certificate in the case of a
widow. If you were born overseas and are unable to obtain a birth
certificate, your passport will be sufficient.
This paperwork is an essential part of the registration process and is a legal requirement.
Please call me just to enquire or to arrange a time to meet.
